TRL 7: SECURE COMMUNICATION AND COMPUTING SYSTEMS IMMUNE TO ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE
Optii is redefining the landscape of defence communications and computing by eliminating one of the most persistent vulnerabilities in modern military technology: electromagnetic exposure. Conventional electronic systems emit detectable signatures and are susceptible to interference, jamming, and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) damage.
Our solution uses optical pathways, leveraging photonic signal processing and fiber-optic Brillouin scattering, to develop systems that operate entirely within the optical domain. These all-optical logic and communication architectures are inherently immune to electromagnetic interference (EMI), electromagnetic warfare (EMW), and EMP events. By replacing electronic circuits with photonic equivalents, Optii’s platform ensures low observability, high data integrity, and mission-critical continuity even in high-threat electromagnetic environments.
TRL 3: ALL OPTICAL COMPUTING SYSTEMS DEFENDED AGAINST ELECTRONIC WARFARE
At this stage, Optii’s work is focused on fundamental research into all optical computing concepts designed to resist electromagnetic attack. The objective is to explore architectures that can operate securely in electronic warfare environments where conventional systems fail.
Our research examines the use of optical logic gates and photonic signal pathways as potential replacements for vulnerable electronic components. The goal is to model and simulate computing systems that perform data processing entirely through light, eliminating exposure to electromagnetic interference, jamming, and EMP effects. These early investigations form the theoretical foundation for future development of EMP resilient photonic computing platforms for defence applications.
